Program Overview

The applied behavior analysis special instruction graduate-level certificate program is an advanced-teacher or therapist preparation program that focuses on the application of behavior analysis and behavioral principles to address the needs of students' special needs. The first and only Approved Coursework Sequence since 2012. It is unique and the only one of its kind based in Hong Kong. Our program meets the educational requirements to sit for the examination or Qualified Behavior Analyst (QABA). Please note that Supervision Experience is also required for certification and it is the responsibility of the student. 

 

Individuals who hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in special education, psychology, or other fields and who are seeking certification from the QABA may start their journey through enrolment in this Approved Four-Course Sequence (QASP-S credential) or Six-Course Sequence (QBA credential) aimed at preparing students for the QABA examination.

Program Requirements

 

The minimum requirements for registration are indicated below. 

*Fees are discounted $2000 if one payment is made otherwise fee goes up $2000 when three payments. See payment options below.

Tuition Payment

 

Payment MUST BE MADE via WeChat, Alipay, or HSBC Hong Kong BANK BRANCH OR ELECTRONICALLY to                Knowledge Network Hong Kong Limited (KNHK) HSBC Hong Kong Business Account #040-201832-838

Please note that to receive $2000 discount payment must be made in two ways:

  1. Direct bank transfer or credit card to KNHK HSBC Bank Account 

  2. We Chat or Alipay payments NOT EXCEEDING $10,000 HKD each & within one month. 

  3. Payments received beyond one month of calendar time are not eligible for the $2000 discount. 

Program Schedule Four-Course Sequence of Classes (QASP-S)

Coursework: The applicant must complete 180 classroom hours of undergraduate- or graduate-level instruction in the following content areas and for the number of hours specified:

 

A. Ethical and Professional Conduct – 15 hours

The content should be based on the QABA Ethical Standards.

 

B. Concepts and Principles of Behavior Analysis– 45hours

The content should be based on the QBA Foundational Knowledge List.

 

C. Research Methods in BehaviorAnalysis

  • Measurement (including Data Analysis) – 10 hrs 

  • Experimental Design – 5 hrs

 

D. Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Fundamental Elements of Behavior Change & Specific Behavior Change Procedures – 45 hrs 

  • Identification of the Problem & Assessment – 30 hrs

  • Intervention & Behavior Change Considerations – 5 hrs

  • Behavior Change Systems – 5 hrs

  • Implementation, Management and Supervision – 5 hrs

 

E. Discretionary – 15 hours

Each course is presented in three-hour blocks once per week for 15 weeks (45 credit hours) 

 

The total credit hours combined across all four classes is 180.  The expected total course sequence from start to finish is four semesters or two years. Supervision Experience is also required (separately.)

Program Schedule Six-Course Sequence of Classes (QBA)

Coursework: The applicant must complete 270 classroom hours of undergraduate- or graduate-level instruction in the following content areas and for the number of hours specified:

A. Ethical and Professional Conduct – 45 hours

 

B. Concepts and Principles of Behavior Analysis– 45hours

 

C. Research Methods in BehaviorAnalysis

  • Measurement (including Data Analysis) – 25 hrs 

  • Experimental Design – 20 hrs

 

D. Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Fundamental Elements of Behavior Change & Specific Behavior Change Procedures – 45 hrs 

  • Identification of the Problem & Assessment – 30 hrs

  • Intervention & Behavior Change Considerations – 10 hrs

  • Behavior Change Systems – 10 hrs

  • Implementation, Management and Supervision – 10 hrs

 

E. Discretionary – 30 hours

 

Each course is presented in three-hour blocks once per week for 15-16 weeks.

 

The total credit hours combined across all four classes is 270.  The expected total course sequence from start to finish is two - four semesters or one to two years. Supervision Experience is also required (separately) as well as an online certification exam.
